IVF orientation

Wow……..I’m a little in shock, I feel like someone should pinch me to wake me up! I went to my orientation today for IVF, and it turns out that there is a very good chance that we will get into the October cycle! It’s absolutely crazy to think about. It doesn’t seem quite real. Everything is happening so fast now and while I am very excited, I am also very nervous. They said there are plenty of spots open still, so the doctor said that everyone in the room should be able to get in as long as they are medically and financially cleared (there were about 12 couples).  Mike and I are pretty much finished with all the tests required to be medically cleared with the exception of the male evaluation, and they’ll medically clear us without that test being done as long as Mike has it done before the baseline appointment.  I’m supposed to get a call this week from the financial specialist to make the payment, and that will officially put us on the list for the October cycle.

It’s hard to believe that this could be happening within the next 2 months.  Baselines run from the first week of October to the second week of November, and I’m guessing I’ll be scheduled towards the end of October.  After the baseline, there is a one week break before the 2 week period of hormone shots, monitoring, egg retrieval and egg transfer.  The doctor said that during that 2 week period, I’ll probably be going in every day for monitoring.  The appointments are from 6:30am to 8am, so the traffic shouldn’t be too bad going to D.C. and coming back, which is good.  I would hate to make that drive during the winter time when it’s snowing, so hopefully this October cycle works out!

I’ll fill in more details later, cause I can’t concentrate on writing anymore (Mike keeps distracting me).

Thanks. I’m really excited. I’m still waiting to hear if I’m medically cleared, but I should find out soon (maybe tomorrow). I talked to the doctor yesterday, and she sent me for more blood tests and to pick up a few prescriptions. Hopefully that means I’m very close!
